A tweet made me look at costs of publishing a climate-science-paper – and that was 8 months ago. As another post here shows there are far too many journals and I am lazy and therefore I only selected a … few. Anyway, the data may be outdated. And as I am lazy the formatting of the tables is … bad – though that is also due to the chosen theme of this site.
I am not sure whether I am more surprised by the number of journals which apparently still charge for colour printing or that many closed-access-journals do not have any paper charges. This, in turn, leads to a certain open-access tendency of this post. DOAJ gives information about OA-journals without article processing charges.
Usually, prices are in US-Dollars, for some I noted that the charges are plus taxes, for some I forgot to add this information. Extra-charges may under certain conditions apply, or may not apply.
